The Freedom High School Band Boosters are proud to announce their hosting of the 23rd annual Freedom Classic. Our marching band contest is one of the longest running events of its kind in the area. As a result of the many years we have been holding this competition, you can be sure it will be an enjoyable and educational experience for everyone involved.
Registration
A registration fee of $50 is required along with the form below. After submitting the form please send in the registration fee to: Freedom Classic, 511 Independence Boulevard, Morganton, NC 28655
Classification
Classification is determined by the total number of wind players. A director may choose for their band to perform in a higher class, but not a lower class. Classification will also be adjusted to accommodate the participating bands.
Class A 20 or fewer
Class AA 21-40
Class AAA 41-60
Class AAAA 61-80
Class AAAAA 81 or more
Judging and Awards
- Band ratings based on scores from 5 band judges using Olympic style judging
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place band trophies for each class
- 1st and 2nd place trophies for Drum Majors, Percussion, Hornline, and Color Guard in each class
- 2 Champion trophies awarded between classes and an overall Principal's Trophy.
Patriot Stadium is one of the largest high school stadiums in all of western North Carolina. It boasts a seating capacity of 10,000 people. The high quality video recording we provide of your band will offer a vantage point from our press box, which is 60 feet above field level! There will not be a better opportunity to get a good look at your band with this view.
Directors, register now for a later performance time in your class. We host one of the longest running marching band events in Western North Carolina and we would love to host your band for a fun and educational experience.
